Winter excursion of the young geomorphologists (SGmS)
Hydrological hazard of Saltina torrent (Brig)
The representatives of the young geomorphologists of the Swiss Geomorphological society organize a two-day excursion. The excursion will take place between Brig and the Simplon pass. On the first day we will explore the present natural hazards in Brig rooting in torrents from the Saltina river and take a look at the special bridge constructions to avoid floods in the city. On the second day, we will go snowshoeing in the area of the Simplon pass. In case of bad weather, we will visit the World Nature Forum in Naters. It is the Base Camp of the UNESCO World Heritage Swiss Alps Jungfrau-Aletsch and offers visitors the opportunity to experience the high alpine nature, culture and glacial landscape in a profound way with all senses. The visited sites will be presented by young researchers with the idea to open discussions between the participants.
